We are really happy with our new Jeep Wrangler.
We are really happy with our new Jeep Wrangler. It’s exactly what we were hoping to find. The purchase process was disappointing, however. We had excellent communications with the dealership in advance of our visit. Several texts and emails confirmed the VIN of the specific Jeep we were interested in, and an appointment was confirmed including that morning shortly before our arrival. When we walked into the dealership, they seemed to have no idea we were coming. We had to start the VIN process all over again and the Jeep was in the back of the dealership, not prepped or cleaned for our arrival or a test drive. What’s the point of all the earlier technology-driven communication if it’s not used by the sales staff to get ready for a possible purchase? Our arrival was not welcoming at all. The rest of our visit progressed as expected although it was unfortunate (but not surprising) that the staff attempted to up-sell us several protection packages. Ultimately we bought the Jeep we wanted but the positive vibes of the pre visit communications were offset by the disappointing welcome.

I cannot recommend this dealer enough. The day before I came in, I had just lost my dad. I was trying to help my mom by finding a fair deal to offload his car, and I was completely exhausted and emotional. Walking into Hawk Auto in that state, I braced myself for stress, but instead, I was met with kindness, patience, and compassion. Francisco and the entire team went above and beyond. I never once felt pressured or like someone was taking advantage of me. They worked hard to do everything they could, and they made one of the hardest moments of my life a little easier. Even the small gestures stood out, like Ibrahim giving my nephew a “1 of 1” drawing that he proudly hung in his room. It was genuine, thoughtful, and human. I left not only with a fair deal, but with deep gratitude. Thanks to their honesty and care, I’ll always remember this experience. Forever thankful to the team, and I guess that means I’m a Jeep owner for life.

had a horrible experience with Hawk. My transmission went out for the second time, and fortunately it was still under warranty. When I dropped it off, I was told there would be a diagnostic fee, but if Chrysler approved and covered the repair, I would not be charged. My van sat there for over a week while they worked with Chrysler to get warranty approval. After more than a week, they finally received authorization to perform the repair. During that time, I also asked my service advisor, Danny, to have a second key made for the vehicle through my third-party warranty. The warranty company contacted him and approved the key replacement. I repeatedly asked for updates and was continually told they were “working on it.” Eventually, I drove to the dealership to pick up a loaner vehicle. I asked to see my van and was taken to an outside lot where it was parked. I asked how it got there if the transmission had already been removed. One employee told me they probably hadn’t started the repair yet. When I asked the service manager the same question, he said they must have pushed it there. I received conflicting answers instead of honest communication. When the repairs were finally completed, they tried to charge me the diagnostic fee. I reminded them that I had been told I wouldn’t be charged if Chrysler covered the repair. Their response was, “Someone has to pay it. Chrysler won’t.” That doesn’t make sense because Chrysler approved and covered the transmission repair under warranty. Overall, the lack of communication, inconsistent explanations, and attempt to charge a fee I was told would be waived left me with no confidence in this dealership. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Hawk.

Be careful if buying used!!! I purchased a 2018 Jeep Compass from Benjamin T. at Hawk CDJ in Forest Park. Less than 30 minutes after leaving the dealership, the vehicle displayed a low oil pressure warning and shortly after began making loud engine noises and shaking. I stopped driving it, documented the issue, and contacted the salesman the next morning as they were already closed by the time I left. While looking through my photos I noticed the automatic stop/start warning light had also come on. Which in hindsight was concerning as the salesman turned off that feature as soon as I started the car for the test drive. To their credit Ben was eager to rectify the situation and helped me arranged a tow back to them for inspection. The next morning I was asked to come in with no explanation other than to talk to the manager when asked what was going on. On my way he texted me saying not to come in as the manager left for the day. I said I was already on my way and asked if someone else could handle it. Ben called me and said unfortunately he is new and doesn’t know the laws but that there was nothing they could do and they would NOT be reversing the sale due to Illinois laws. After further discussion in which I quoted Illinois law he asked me to hold. Left me on hold for several minutes then disconnected the call and sent me a text that he’d call me back later. A few minutes later I received a text that if I was still on my way they would allow me to return the car and give me a refund. While the issue was eventually resolved, my experience during the process was disappointing. When I asked to obtain documentation confirming the cancelation, I was met with rude and unprofessional behavior, including being told by Ben that he was done with me and walked away while I was still trying to get confirmation in writing.i then asked at the front desk and was also treated rudely by Randy, who said “what do you want from me?” I asked for written proof the sale was reversed. He took my receipt for the deposit refund and sarcastically said “okay what would you like me to write?” I appreciate that the dealership ultimately refunded the purchase, but the experience handling a serious post-sale mechanical issue was frustrating and unprofessional.

Do NOT buy a vehicle from this dealership! They will tell you one thing prior to the sale and ignore you when a problem arises after the sale. I was induced to purchase a car from them with the promise that they would pick up and deliver back my car from my home when a service issue arose but then failed to honor that promise. Calls and messages left for Jim Kinney, the General Manager, were never returned. This dealership does not value its customers and they will lie to you to get your business. Stay away!

If you’re looking for insanely priced diagnostics
If you’re looking for insanely priced diagnostics ($1,300), a rude and dismissive service advisor and service manager, and a “master technician” that can’t find well documented, known mechanical failures that have already been repaired three times before; Hawk Automotive is your place. I brought in my Jeep JLU Rubicon for a flashing “service axle locker” warning light that has been repaired three times and covered by warranty including TWO axel swaps and one Mopar sensor kit workaround at a more reputable dealership that is all over the internet due to faulty axel sensors and posted online. However, after paying $200 for an initial inspection and $100 for two days of rental car fees because they didn’t look at it until the second day after making an appointment, I was told they couldn’t “diagnose the problem” even though several codes were revealed and I provided them with well documented TSB notes directly from Jeep, but they needed 5-6 more hours or $1,100 to just diagnose it. Not repair it—diagnose it. So I was forced to pay a $300 bill to get my Jeep back and left with nothing but a printout stating they need more time to diagnose what other dealerships would consider an easy to find and diagnose problem. So I called a Jeep buddy who had a similar problem and swapped out the defective sensor in 25 seconds (not exaggerating, plug and play, click, click) with his aftermarket part that I guess most pre-2024 Rubicon owners have purchased from Z automotive and everything now works like new (see 4-500 videos on YouTube as well). So, if you value your time, your wallet, or your sanity—take your Jeep anywhere else but Hawk Automotive. The customer service was terrible and their inability to diagnose a well documented problem borders between incompetence or scamming you out of money.

I refuse to disconnect a basic Unnecessary extra service that was an autolock by the computer service, They charged me $2500.00 Sorry to inspect A problem that I had already provided them the answer for! they tried to charge me over $2000.00 to fix something that was easily mechanically free to fix and I took my vehicle to another garage where it was fixed for free!!! I am both appalled how I was charged for an inspection service that I did not need that was pushed upon me and I had to go to another garage to fix the vehicle problem with the parking break which cost me zero dollars! Your dealership wants to charge me over $2000 to fix his problem and they refused to provide a simple mechanical solution for it, claiming they had no knowledge on how to mechanically fix my issue!!!

Be careful if buying used!!! I purchased a 2018 Jeep Compass from Benjamin T. at Hawk CDJ in Forest Park. Less than 30 minutes after leaving the dealership, the vehicle displayed a low oil pressure warning and shortly after began making loud engine noises and shaking. I stopped driving it, documented the issue, and contacted the salesman the next morning as they were already closed by the time I left. While looking through my photos I noticed the automatic stop/start warning light had also come on. Which in hindsight was concerning as the salesman turned off that feature as soon as I started the car for the test drive. To their credit Ben was eager to rectify the situation and helped me arranged a tow back to them for inspection. The next morning I was asked to come in with no explanation other than to talk to the manager when asked what was going on. On my way he texted me saying not to come in as the manager left for the day. I said I was already on my way and asked if someone else could handle it. Ben called me and said unfortunately he is new and doesn’t know the laws but that there was nothing they could do and they would NOT be reversing the sale due to Illinois laws. After further discussion in which I quoted Illinois law he asked me to hold. Left me on hold for several minutes then disconnected the call and sent me a text that he’d call me back later. A few minutes later I received a text that if I was still on my way they would allow me to return the car and give me a refund. While the issue was eventually resolved, my experience during the process was disappointing. When I asked to obtain documentation confirming the cancelation, I was met with rude and unprofessional behavior, including being told by Ben that he was done with me and walked away while I was still trying to get confirmation in writing.i then asked at the front desk and was also treated rudely by Randy, who said “what do you want from me?” I asked for written proof the sale was reversed. He took my receipt for the deposit refund and sarcastically said “okay what would you like me to write?” I appreciate that the dealership ultimately refunded the purchase, but the experience handling a serious post-sale mechanical issue was frustrating and unprofessional.

I got in contact with this dealership. I showed interest in one particular Jeep. I got 4 text messages, 3 emails, and 1 phone call to schedule and confirm an appointment to see the Jeep. I got to the main building and told them I had an appointment. I gave them the names of those who contacted me. They told me I was in the wrong building. Drove to a second building. There they asked if I was with capital one. I said no. They asked ok what's my challenge? I said I'm not here to finance. They said I was in the wrong building. Had to go back to the first building. A sales rep finally asked how they can help me. I told him I'm looking for a particular Jeep. He went and brought it. It was supposed to be a brand new Jeep. It was dirty on the outside and had crumbs by the cup holders. It had 2404 miles on it already. Windshield washer fluid was almost empty. There was a citation inside the glove box for another car. Turns out one of the managers drove the vehicle. They showed me the sales numbers and even used detailing the car as a negotiation token. They tried to sell it 6k above sticker price as new. This was not a new car anymore, it was used. I refuse to pay that much. After a bit of back and forth on the worth of the vehicle, they brought in the aftermarket parts manager to negotiate. We ended up about 11.5k less than what they initially asked. They detail the Jeep and changed the oil for free. We sign the paperwork late in the evening. The next morning I wired the money and had confirmation they received it. I called the sales rep to follow up on the wire transfer. He said he would get back to me within one hour. Didn't hear back from him. The rest of that Friday I kept reaching out to sales rep. No response. I called the dealership operator asking for a sales or finance manager to call me back. No one called. I tried the sales rep again, he claimed they still haven't gotten the money. I email the dealership general manager Jim asking for a few minutes of his time, no response. I got my Jeep on Monday, but with only one key. According to the sales rep the technician who work on the Jeep took it by mistake and won't be back until Thursday. The sales rep asked me to REMIND HIM a few days later on Thursday about the second key. Thursday came, it took several tries reaching out before the sales rep responded. Finally they admitted they lost the second key. I asked how can you assure me my Jeep was safe with a lost second key. No answer. About a week later I got my second key but had to drive back to the dealership. I had bought a different Jeep at a different location months earlier. With this dealership every step is a struggle. I didn't like the lack of response from the managers nor their negotiation tactics. I'm still not sure if my Jeep is safe with a lost key out there.
